About Us

Located in Warrenton, Manassas and Fairfax, Virginia, Mulford Mediation was established in 1990 by Philip M. Mulford, an attorney, to provide a better means of resolving disputes than the traditional, costly, time consuming, and generally unsatisfying adversarial lawsuit approach.

Mulford, a graduate of Duke University and The University of Virginia School of Law, practiced law from 1982 to 1990 and then devoted himself fulltime to mediation.

"Highly recommend Mr. Mulford as mediator to anyone -- no ifs, ands, or buts."

Mulford is a frequent speaker to business, community, church, civic, trade, and professional groups, and has published articles in various publications including UVALawyer, the Fairfax Bar Association Journal, Discover, and the Virginia Episcopalian on mediation.

Mulford teaches attorneys Continuing Legal Education seminars approved by the Virginia State Bar Association. These programs help attorneys better understand mediation and their ethical responsibilities to their clients regarding mediation. All Virginia attorneys are ethically required to advise their clients about the advantages, disadvantages, availability, and appropriateness of alternative dispute resolution processes -- the most common one being mediation. If your attorney has not discussed mediation with you or is unfamiliar with it, please call Mulford Mediation. We would be happy to answer your questions.

"In what could have been a very dark time in our both our lives, you kept shining the light of focus. For this, we will always be grateful. Again, our sincere thanks for your expertise."

Mulford also conducts communication seminars for couples and businesses to help people become aware of why their family or business personal interaction is not working and then create procedures to replace the old, unsuccessful means of communication with better, more appropriate, satisfying, and peaceful means of communication.

Judges, attorneys, fellow mediators, and former clients refer most of the mediation business that Mulford Mediation conducts. Mulford Mediation will provide you with a positive and constructive environment in which you will be able to control and make the decisions that will affect you, your children, and your future.
