Located in Fairfax and Warrenton, Virginia, Mulford Mediation was established in 1990 by Philip M. Mulford, an attorney, to provide a better means of resolving disputes than the traditional, costly, time consuming, and generally unsatisfying adversarial lawsuit approach.
Mulford, a graduate of Duke University and The University of Virginia School of Law, practiced law from 1982 to 1990 and then devoted himself fulltime to mediation.
Mulford was one of the first mediators to receive Virginia Supreme Court certification when the Virginia Supreme Court began certifying mediators in 1993 and maintains the highest levels of certification in both family and business mediation. Mulford has lobbied the Virginia Supreme Court and the Virginia General Assembly in an effort to increase Virginia's standards for mediator certification.
Mulford teaches attorneys Continuing Legal Education seminars approved by the Virginia State Bar Association. These programs help attorneys better understand mediation and their ethical responsibilities to their clients regarding mediation. All Virginia attorneys are ethically required to advise their clients about the advantages, disadvantages, availability, and appropriateness of alternative dispute resolution processes -- the most common one being mediation. If your attorney has not discussed mediation with you or is unfamiliar with it, please call Mulford Mediation. We would be happy to answer your questions.
Judges, attorneys, fellow mediators, and former clients refer most of the mediation business that Mulford Mediation conducts. Mulford Mediation will provide you with a positive and constructive environment in which you will be able to control and make the decisions that will affect you, your children, and your future.
